Microsoft’s New Internet Integration Strategy –  .NET Enterprise Servers – to be Introduced at “Developer Days” Conference

October 6, 2000 – On Tuesday, October 10, Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer will introduce the company’s new .NET Enterprise Servers at “Developer Days,” an international conference for software developers.  Dublin, Ohio-based InDepth Technology will host the Columbus site of the international conference at the Hyatt Regency Columbus, 350 N. High Street, from 8:15 to 5:15 p.m.

“Microsoft’s .NET Enterprise Servers promise the full power of integrated Web technologies for the future,” says Kevin Schuler, president of InDepth Technology, Inc., a business and technology-consulting firm.  Schuler, who is a regional director for the Microsoft Solution Developer Network, served on the Microsoft advisory council that determined content for the “Developer Days” event.

“The .NET strategy is a radical undertaking, similar to Microsoft’s leap from DOS to Windows,” Schuler adds.  In addition to presentations by Schuler and Microsoft’s front-line technical experts, Steve Ballmer, chief executive officer of Microsoft, will address simultaneously more than 70,000 developers in 64 countries and 160 cities via satellite broadcast.

Frank Henson, president and CEO of the Central Ohio Industry and Technology Council says, “It is no surprise that InDepth Technology is host for Columbus’ first indepth introduction to this new initiative.   Since the early days of the World Wide Web, this local company has been educating and informing our community about leading edge technology,” Henson added.

According to Schuler, the .NET Internet integration strategy, which is claiming fully eighty percent of Microsoft’s $4 billion research and development budget, will “close the digital loop” to usher in the “third generation” of the Internet.   “This initiative, which is intended to integrate Microsoft’s software with the Internet and make it easier to exchange information between different computing devices, will level the playing field for small and medium business owners, enabling them to harness the power of the Internet as never before,” he says.

The “Developer Days” conference will include six technical sessions in two tracks that will take intelligence managers beyond product demonstrations and into applying the technology in their organizations. Sessions focus on various topics, including the .NET architecture and implementation for the .NET Enterprise Servers. Software and Web developers, consultants and systems integrators can register for the event at www.msdn.microsoft.com/events/devdays.
